Onset Sensor Measuring Average Wind Speed, Direction and 3-Second Gust
The Onset Wind Speed and Direction Smart Sensor provides
average wind speed, highest 3 second wind gust and average wind direction in the measurement interval. The smart sensor features a maximum wind speed survival of 54 m/s and is constucted of anodized aluminum and stainless steel.

Measurement Definitions
Wind Speed - Gust
Cup revolutions accumulated every three seconds for the duration of the logging interval. Wind speed is the average speed for the entire logging interval. Gust speed is the highest 3 second wind recorded during the logging interval.
Wind Direction
Vector components of wind direction are accumulated every 3 seconds for duration of logging interval. Average direction is calculated from the sum of the vector components every logging interval.
