The FIRST organization brought together students from different grade levels and communities to work for a common goal. With corporate sponsorships, the local FIRST Robotics team, plan, build and test a robot, that competes in regional and national competitions against other FIRST teams. What is FIRST?
For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology
FIRST was founded by inventor Dean Kamen to inspire and appreciation of science and technology in young people. Based in Manchester, NH, the not-for-profit organization designs accessible, innovative programs to build self-confidence, knowledge and life skills while motivating young people to pursue opportunities in science, technology, engineering and math.
The FIRST Robotics Competition combines the excitement of sport with science and technology to create a unique varsity sport for the mind. FRC helps high school students discover the rewarding and engaging process of innovation and engineering.
FRC is a fascinating, real-world, professional experience and helps students see the valuve of education and careers in science, technology, engineering and math.
