Two factors to consider when setting up any data logging system:
(1)How long do I need to record
data?
One hour, one
day, one month or a year.
(2)How often do I need to sample the data?
If
the data changes fast you need to sample more often, if
the data
changes slowly as in day time temperature, than a
slower sampling rate of
once an hour or several times a day.
With this information and the knowledge of the amount of memory that
the unit has, you can optimize your logging parameters.
The chart can give you an idea of how many recordings you can take
with a given sample rate. The number of recordings (samples
per) relate to the memory size.
Example:
The Temperature Logger has 32K
of memory (32,766 readings).Looking at the chart you
can see that it can take almost one year of readings
with a sampling rate of once every 15 minutes. Depending
upon the data logging unit, there are different memory
sizes. The Pressure and Temperature
Logger has a total of 16K of memory (16,382 readings),
yet that is split between the Pressure readings and the
Temperature readings, so each channel has 8K of memory.
