  • Answer:

    This logger will work for your application.  It can be set up to tell you min, max, or average run time with a time date stamp.  The logger can store up to 32k readings.  The total time it can record for will depend on how frequently the pump experiences a state change.  Each time it turns on and off will use two data points, again the maximum is 32k.   

    The external CT that this logger comes with must be clamped around a single power leg.  If you are using a standard AC cord you will need to split the line using an accessory like this one:

    Another simpler option I would recommend looking at is the UX90-001 from Onset.

    This logger can be attached to the compressor motor via strong magnets and sense when the motor is on by its magnetic field.   The logger works with software that is available as a free download.

    It can be programed to record state (on/off), Event (number of times), and Run Time.  Optionally you can purchase an external CT to use it like the Dent model but most customers don't find it necessary.  It's available in two versions, one that can store 84,650 readings and another that can store up to 346,795 readings.  Like the Dent, the total record time will depend the frequency of state changes but for this logger you can also adjust the sample rate so that will add into the equation as well.  Whereas the Dent is fixed at checking once per second this logger can be set up to check at the same once per second but also slower if you want to conserve memory.
