  • Answer:

While technically you as the customer can request any calibration interval you want, the VFC typically won't accept going with any interval that is greater than 2 years or whichever the manufacturer recommends.  For this particular logger the manufacturer doesn't recommend going longer than a year.  LogTag recommends up to 2 years and Berlinger and InTemp suggest up to 3 years.  Keep in mind that when a logger is calibrated and is found to be accurate that is only at the point that the calibration was performed.  While the accuracy of most temperature loggers hold pretty accurate it's not uncommon for issues to pop up that cause it to drift out of spec.  Should this happen and you don't have it calibrated/tested regularly you might not find out about an issue until it's too late.

All the vaccine monitoring loggers we sell with the exception of the Fridge-Tag2L series from Berlinger can be shipped back to us for recalibration.  The cost for recalibration is much less expensive than buying a new logger, typically it's under $35 per logger.

As the customer you can request any interval you would like however the manufacturer of this product doesn't recommend anything more than a one year interval.  If you order online you can state the interval you wish us to list in the order notes during checkout.

  • Answer:

Yes, this logger meets the current requirements of the VFC program.

The logger uses a 1/2 AA battery (included) and has a typical battery life of up to 1-2 years.

  • Answer:

Generally speaking we don't recommend keeping a logger in a freezer unless it's for short term testing.  This is because the cold temperatures greatly reduce the battery life and make the LCD display (if equipped) not readable.  To use a logger long term at -40°C we would recommend looking at a logger rated for dry ice applications, however even these loggers will have a relatively short battery life and most (if not all) don't have displays.

If you are using this to meet a requirement of the VFC program they require you to use a logger with an external probe, display, and glycol buffer for the sensor.  There is no way to meet this requirement with a logger kept inside the freezer.
