Overview of the HOBO U24-001 Conductivity Data Logger

The Onset HOBO U24-001 is a cost-effective, high-accuracy conductivity data logger for collecting freshwater water quality data. The U24 is designed to record both conductivity and temperature in streams, lakes, and other freshwater sources. This is an ideal solution for monitoring aquifers for saltwater intrusion and road and agricultural runoff. The U24 has open access to its sensor which makes cleaning and maintenance very easy. The loggers non-contact sensor keeps measurement errors due to drift to an absolute minimum. Additionally, the logger features software-based drift compensation. The sensor on the U24 has a Titanium Pentoxide coating which prevents the sensor from coming into contact with water. This, in turn, prevents tarnishing or corrosion associated with traditional electrode sensors. The sensor coating is also inert, enabling any fouling to be easily wiped off. Downloading the logger can be done in less than 30 seconds using the required optical USB interface (BASE-U-4 or U-DTW-1). The logger is configured, and data is viewed using either free HOBOware or HOBOware Pro (paid) software.
