Questions

  • Answer:

The logger doesn't ship with a calibration certificate.  If you require calibration you must purchase it as an option.  When you select the calibration option it will allow you to choose a single point.

If you would like additional points please add that information to the notes field at checkout and we will add them in for you.  The first calibration point for temperature is $49 and then each additional point you choose is an additional $19 each.

  • Answer:

The temperature range that the logger can be exposed to and monitor is from -30c to +80c (-31F to +176F).  Note that long term use at either the extreme high or low end of the range will have an effect on the battery life of the logger.

  • Answer:

This logger can be used in any application as long as it is within the specification for operating temp (-35°c to 80°c) and not exposed to anything more than occasional moisture.

Using the logger in temps below room temperature will shorten the overall battery life of the logger.

For fridge and freezer applications we would generally recommend a logger with an external probe and glycol buffer bottle.  This allows you to keep the logger outside of the unit at room temp and only have the probe exposed to the colder temps.  The glycol buffer bottle provides thermal mass to give you an accurate reading without recording any short term drops or spikes that might happen when a door is opened for access.

I understand this is not your specific application but they share the same requirements so this would be a good fit.

  • Answer:

The EL-USB-1 is not designed for use underwater or submersion.  The logger is rated IP61, which means it's dust tight and protected against dripping water.

If you need something that can be submerged we would suggest looking at loggers designed for underwater use.

If you go to our temperature logger page and use the "Shop By" options to filter you will see an option under the heading "Environment" that says "Underwater".  These loggers would be better suited for your application.

You will still need to use the filter options noted above to narrow it down to submergible loggers.

  • Answer:

The logger doesn't come with a calibration certificate.  The logger will function with  the same accuracy whether you purchase the calibration service or not.  The calibration service is just a validation of accuracy of each specific logger you purchase.  It doesn't affect how the logger works so unless you are required to have a calibration certificate on file you wouldn't need to purchase one.

  • Answer:

This logger can operate down to -35°c (or -31°F).  Battery life will be on the shorter side of the estimated range when used at these low temperatures for any extended period.
